India has started developing several medical equipment parks to increase domestic manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports. In particular, two sets of approval for such parks are given:
1. Approved in 2019:
• Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Medtec Zone (AMTZ) is a major medical equipment manufacturing center in Visakhapatnam.
• Telangana: Medical device park in Hyderabad, established in 2017, is spread over 250 acres and supports medical technology innovation and manufacturing.
• Tamil Nadu: A medical device park is planned in Orgdam Industrial Corridor in Kanchipuram district.
• Kerala: Bio 360 Life Sciences Park in Thiruvananthapuram focuses on biotechnology and life science, including medical equipment.
2.Approved in 2021:
• Himachal Pradesh: A park has been planned in Badi Barotatwala Nalgarh area of Solan district.
• Madhya Pradesh: The proposed place is in Pithapur-Dhar-Moh area, Vikram Udogpuri Limited, Ujjain district.
• Tamil Nadu: Another park has been planned in the Argadam Industrial Corridor in Kanchipuram district.
• Uttar Pradesh: The park is to be installed in Sector 28 of Yida Charan I, Gautam Buddha Nagar district.
The objective of these initiatives is to provide the state -OF -Art -Eart Infrastructure, promoting innovation, and reducing production costs in the medical equipment, align with make in India.
