AI-Powered Medical Imaging Solutions Expected to Surpass Traditional Systems

Despite this growth, adoption among smaller hospitals and regional healthcare providers remains limited due to high validation expenses, data privacy concerns, reliance on older systems and inconsistent reimbursement mechanisms.

In terms of technology, AI-enabled software is projected to record the fastest growth and surpass conventional imaging systems.

The increasing imbalance between imaging workloads and the availability of radiologists is further accelerating adoption. In the United States, imaging volumes are growing by around 5% annually, while only about 1,000 new radiologists join the workforce each year.

By product type, integrated software accounted for the largest market share at 64.5%, as medical imaging equipment manufacturers increasingly incorporate AI capabilities into CT, MRI and X-ray systems.

Regionally, North America held the leading position with a 38.4% market share, supported by increasing imaging volumes and an established FDA approval pathway for AI-based medical devices.
