Siemens Healthineers Warns of €300 Million Tariff Hit Despite Revenue Growth

Siemens Healthineers (SHLG.DE) anticipates a tariff impact of up to 300 million euros (\$341 million) on its operating profit for the second half of 2025, following a slight revenue beat reported on Wednesday. This forecast mirrors similar challenges faced by its peers, GE HealthCare (GEHC.O) and Philips (PHG.AS), both of which have flagged significant tariff-related financial impacts while also cutting their annual projections.

The German medical technology giant stated that tariffs would reduce its adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) by approximately 200 million to 300 million euros in the latter half of the fiscal year. Chief Financial Officer Jochen Schmitz noted that this would translate to a reduction of around 15 euro cents per share on its adjusted earnings.

Despite maintaining its full-year revenue outlook for a comparable growth of 5% to 6%, Siemens Healthineers adjusted the lower end of its forecast range for adjusted basic earnings per share, now expecting it to be between 2.20 euros and 2.50 euros, down from the previous low end of 2.35 euros. CEO Bernd Montag mentioned during a press call, “Without the current tariff environment, we would have discussed the achievability of the upper end of the guidance ranges for revenue growth and adjusted earnings per share.”

Regarding the outlook for 2026, Schmitz informed analysts that, under a “very conservative case,” the tariff impact could potentially double from the 200-300 million euro range anticipated this year.

As of 08:11 GMT, Siemens Healthineers’ shares were down by 1.3%, following a brief 2% rise during early trading. The company posted second-quarter revenue of 5.91 billion euros (\$6.70 billion), surpassing the 5.80 billion euros expected by analysts polled by Vara Research. Adjusted operating profit also exceeded expectations with a 19% year-on-year growth, driven largely by the strong performance of its Imaging and Varian divisions, along with cost-saving measures in the Diagnostics segment.
