A Nipah virus infection has been confirmed in Malappuram district, Kerala, according to health officials. State Health Minister Veena George announced that a woman from Valanchery has tested positive for the virus.
The patient is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Perinthalmanna, health authorities reported. She had been experiencing fever for the past week, along with symptoms like cough and breathing difficulties. Suspecting a Nipah infection, her samples were sent to the virology laboratory in Pune for testing. The laboratory results later confirmed the Nipah virus infection, officials stated.
