Redesign Health, a US-based venture capital firm specialising in healthcare, has strengthened its presence in India’s digital health ecosystem by launching a dedicated investment fund for healthcare AI startups. In collaboration with Mumbai-based Sky Impact Capital, the venture builder aims to support entrepreneurs at the idea and pre-seed stages, helping them develop AI-driven healthcare solutions capable of scaling across India and global markets.

While the size of the fund has not been disclosed, the company intends to invest in five to six startups annually, primarily targeting founders who are in the early phases of shaping their ideas or preparing to launch their ventures.

Aakash Sachdev, Founder and Managing Partner of Sky Impact Capital as well as Co-founder and General Partner of Redesign Health India, said the partnership combines Redesign Health’s proven venture-building model with India’s strengths to unlock significant value in the healthcare sector.

Adam Jones, Managing Director at Redesign Health, described India as one of the most promising locations worldwide for building AI-powered healthcare companies, citing its large healthcare market, advanced digital infrastructure, strong engineering talent, and collaborative healthcare ecosystem. He added that the firm’s strategy is to pair exceptional entrepreneurs with high-potential ideas while providing them with strong support from the outset.

To execute its India strategy, Redesign Health has established a 12-member team based in Bengaluru and Mumbai that will work closely with its international network. The company sees opportunities in AI technologies that improve healthcare accessibility in Tier II and Tier III cities, help speciality care providers expand, strengthen healthcare payment systems, support medical tourism, and advance preventive healthcare.

Jones noted that preventive healthcare remains a major priority because of its potential to improve patient outcomes while reducing overall healthcare costs.

The firm also plans to use its relationships with healthcare providers, insurers, diagnostics companies, pharmaceutical firms, and investors across the US and the Middle East to help startups secure pilot programmes, strategic collaborations, and future funding opportunities.

In addition, Redesign Health expects to collaborate with India’s pharmaceutical industry by supporting AI solutions for research, operational efficiency, and commercial activities. However, its primary focus will remain on software-driven healthcare businesses rather than capital-intensive segments such as molecular drug discovery and medical devices.

Established in 2018, Redesign Health has launched numerous healthcare ventures whose combined reach exceeds 15 million patients and which have collectively raised more than $1.5 billion in funding. In late 2024, the firm further strengthened its investment capabilities by raising a $175 million fund to back the next generation of healthcare innovation worldwide.
