India-Israel Launch Hackathon Sees Strong Participation from Young Innovators

The first India-Israel Hackathon, themed “Restorative Healthcare,” brought together around 1,300 young innovators to develop technology-driven solutions for healthcare and rehabilitation challenges. Among the winning projects were a non-electric wheelchair-based limb mobilisation system from Israel and an AI-powered movement analysis solution from India. The initiative also aimed to strengthen ties between the two countries while promoting innovative solutions with wider social impact. 

The inaugural India-Israel Hackathon, centred on the theme “Restorative Healthcare,” received an enthusiastic response from young innovators in both countries, who worked on technology-based solutions for healthcare and rehabilitation challenges. Around 1,300 students and participants took part in addressing 14 problem statements.

India’s Ambassador to Israel, JP Singh, presented awards to the Hackathon winners. Among the winning Israeli innovations was a wheelchair-mounted limb mobilisation device that uses the natural rotation of the front wheel to facilitate controlled leg movement without electricity. In India, one of the winning solutions used real-time video processing and automated movement analysis to evaluate limb movement in injured patients.

The initiative created a platform for strengthening people-to-people relations between India and Israel while encouraging young participants to apply their creativity and technical expertise to solutions with broader social impact.
