Nadda stated that India’s healthcare system has transitioned from being largely treatment-oriented to a more holistic model that incorporates preventive, rehabilitative, palliative, and geriatric care. Speaking at the second convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bathinda in Punjab, he noted that more than 1.82 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are functioning as the primary access points for healthcare services across the country.
Highlighting the government’s emphasis on preventive healthcare, Nadda said citizens aged above 30 years are being encouraged to undergo regular health screenings through Panchayats, ASHA workers, and other frontline healthcare personnel. He shared that these efforts have resulted in the screening of over 36 crore individuals for oral cancer, more than 17 crore women for breast cancer, and over 9 crore women for cervical cancer. The minister also commended AIIMS Bathinda for its role in enhancing tertiary healthcare services, medical education, and research in the region.
During the event, Nadda inaugurated the Child Development and Early Intervention Centre, which is expected to support the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of developmental disorders and disabilities among children.
