J.P. Nadda to Speak at India Medical Device 2026, Spotlight on Strengthening India’s Global MedTech Competitiveness

The Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, in partnership with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), is set to host the ninth edition of India Medical Device 2026 on August 7–8 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Held under the theme “Towards Viksit Bharat: Advancing India as a Global Hub for Quality Medical Devices,” the flagship event will convene policymakers, regulators, industry executives, healthcare organisations, academic institutions, innovators, and international stakeholders to discuss the future direction of India’s expanding medical devices industry.

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers J.P. Nadda will deliver a keynote address on “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat,” highlighting the government’s strategy to create a globally competitive, innovation-led medical technology ecosystem. The conference will also feature participation from Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel, senior government officials, representatives from NITI Aayog, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), leading MedTech company executives, startups, and healthcare specialists.

Over the two-day programme, participants will deliberate on a range of topics, including domestic manufacturing of medical devices, expansion of testing infrastructure, quality standards, artificial intelligence (AI), Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), regulatory improvements, clinical evidence development, export potential, service ecosystems, and reimbursement mechanisms that support Universal Health Coverage.

Valued at more than USD 15 billion, India’s medical devices industry is among the country’s fastest-growing healthcare segments. Growth has been supported by initiatives such as the National Medical Devices Policy 2023, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, Medical Device Parks, and ongoing regulatory reforms.

India Medical Device 2026 is expected to encourage greater investment, strengthen technology partnerships, showcase innovations, and advance India’s goal of emerging as a leading global centre for MedTech manufacturing and innovation in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
