World Health Day is celebrated annually on 7 April, marking the establishment of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948. Each year, this day highlights a specific health subject of global importance. In 2025, the theme is the “healthy start, hopeful futures“, which is focusing on maternal and newborn health.
The objective of this year’s campaign is to encourage governments and healthcare communities to intensify efforts to eliminate mother and newborn death and prefer the long -term health and welfare of women. This initiative emphasizes the importance of providing high quality care that supports children and families physically and later physically and emotionally.
According to WHO, about 300,000 women die every year due to pregnancy or delivery complications, while more than 2 million children die in the first month of their lives, and are about 2 million more. This is equivalent to almost a stopping death every seven seconds.
The “healthy start, hopeful futures” campaign attempts to raise awareness about these issues, advocates effective investment to improve the health of women and infants, and provides useful health information related to pregnancy, delivery and postpartum periods. By focusing on maternal and neonatal health, the campaign underlines the foundation of healthy families and communities, which aims to ensure optimistic futures for all.
